Electrical/Instrumentation & Control Engineer (E/I&C) 2024-503 HAINC-PB
HukariAscendent is a Woman-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities.
We are seeking qualified candidates to perform the following:
Seeking candidate with experience in Electrical Engineering design (primary focus on industrial power distribution design) and/or Instrumentation and Controls Engineering design (primary focus on equipment process control and monitoring).
- Electrical Power Engineer will have experience utilizing ETAP Power Systems Analysis application for power system modeling, design and analysis; steady state and short circuit conditions; motor acceleration scenarios; equipment protection; selectivity and device coordination; arc flash assessment and mitigation; conduct arc flash energy study using IEEE 1584; effects of harmonics in system and filter sizing.
- Engineer will be responsible for developing detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems in various facilities at Y-12.
- Design support involves the preparation of planning documents such as cost-estimating bills of material and labor-hour estimates, statements of work, and design criteria, and detailed design engineering deliverables including calculations, construction specifications, drawings, datasheets, and equipment specifications.
- Engineer will routinely perform walkdowns in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel. Field troubleshooting support of existing systems will be required to inform design for corrective actions.
- Engineer will be responsible for preparing conduit/cable schedules, conduit/equipment plans, one-line diagrams, wiring/connection/schematic diagrams, various sections/elevations/details, and Engineering Design Instructions as required by the work scope.
- E/I&C engineer will also develop control cabinet assembly drawings, system diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, and control logic for both batch and continuous processes using conventional analog instrumentation, distributed digital control systems, and programmable logic controller/human-machine interfaces (PLCs/HMIs). E/I&C engineers will develop process control system narratives, aid in the development of process software requirements, and provide input to Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Engineer may provide design support to expedite the closure of Change Requests (CR) for Configuration Managed (CM) systems that have been returned to service for longer than 90 days. Candidate will review these CRs to determine affected CM documents needing revision to reflect the change, walkdown the impacted systems, and revise the affected documents to incorporate the field change.
- Work scope may consist of a single-discipline design task or require the engineer to contribute to an integrated, multidiscipline project team.
- Engineer should have demonstrated experience utilizing the National Electrical Code, UL508A, and other relevant national consensus codes/standards such as ISA standards when required to design instrumentation and controls systems.
- Experience in a NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable along with an understanding of Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Operations for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment.
- Experience utilizing Rockwell Automation industrial automation software (RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, etc.) is preferred, but not required. Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred but not required.
Position is full-time (4/10 schedule Mon.-Thur.).
Minimum Education: BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Five (5) or more years of relevant professional experience.
- DOE Q-Clearance is highly desired, but not required to start work. Any uncleared candidates will be expected to apply for a clearance after starting work.
