Job Description :

HukariAscendent is a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities.


 


We are looking for Electrical Engineers to support the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project.  This position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs moderately complex engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a broad set of complex assignments. 


 


Responsibilities:



  • Provide technical direction to assigned engineers as required.

  • Conduct construction document reviews as required.

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate electrical engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects.

  • Prepare and modify electrical design drawings (e.g., single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagram layouts, raceway, lighting, and grounding).

  • Properly interpret and apply National, State, and Local codes and standards, and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design/construction documents, specifications, and system descriptions related to assigned tasks.

  • Prepare engineering cost and schedules estimates.

  • Generate and review the accuracy of design/evaluation calculations, and specifications.

  • Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work

  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria.

  • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problems.

  • Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution.

  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.


Work Location:  Remote work requests will be evaluated. Onsite preferred.






Required Qualifications :

For all levels, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to electrical engineering design.




Electrical Engineer: Bachelor of Science in Electrical (Power) Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (nuclear preferred) in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering.


 


Senior Electrical Engineer:  Bachelor of Science in Electrical (Power) Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience (nuclear preferred) in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering. Professional Engineer License preferred but not required.




Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor of Science in Electrical (Power) Engineering with a minimum of 15 years’ experience (nuclear preferred) in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering. Professional Engineer License preferred but not required.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Registered Professional Engineer.

  • Knowledge of Integraph S3D.

  • Knowledge of Integraph SEL.

  • Professional registration and membership in technical society.

  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials.

  • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.

  • Practical field experience.

  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs.

  • Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required.
