HukariAscendent is a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and other Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities. 




We are seeking five highly capable and motivated Reactor Structural Analysis Engineers. The Reactor Structural Analysis Engineer is a dedicated position focused on analyzing the mechanical performance of various reactor core components, reactor structures, reactor vessels, and nuclear island components.  The Reactor Structural Analysis Engineer will report to the Structural Analysis Manager and will join the Mechanical Design Discipline and will work as part of a high functioning team of engineers and scientists focused on developing the design of next generation advanced nuclear reactors.



Responsibilities



  • Perform mechanical analyses of reactor structures, systems, and nuclear island components to verify that their performance remains within imposed limits as defined by applicable structural and pressure equipment codes and standards (AISC and ASME BPVC).

  • Develop required inputs and methodologies to establish structural sizing and load combinations for critical reactor components and interfaces.

  • Work with interdisciplinary team of engineers to establish and optimize nuclear components design consistent with required functional and quality requirements.

  • Identify and define activities required for the successful design, analysis, and verification of reactor structures and components.

  • Establish and maintain documents of analysis results and design solutions.

Required Qualifications :
 


Key Qualifications and Skills



  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university. Aerospace and Civil Engineering degrees are also considered.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of related experience with a B.S. degree, or 8+ years with an M.S. or Ph.D. degree.

  • Proficient in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ABAQUS or ANSYS.

  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and metal fatigue principles.

  • Candidate should have demonstrated experience in mechanical analysis of equipment or components.  This may include seismic analysis, buckling analysis, thermal analysis, or creep / inelastic analysis.

  • Experience working under stringent quality assurance requirements such as ASME NQA-1.

  • Experience in the analysis of components to ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section III.

  • Working experience with other pressure equipment design codes and standards such as ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.3.

  • Strong communication skills desired
